Halwa Bazar is the street that connects Valiyangadi ( Big Bazar) with Misckal mosque in Kuttichira. The once- busiest street in Kozhikode, the Halwa Bazar is now remains as a sweet memory. Till during 1970s, the bazaar was so busy, there were a few hotels, a few stationary shops selling Sherbath, Beedi etc. and the Halwa shops, all worked even in the night. Now no Halwa stores are to be found anywhere in the Halwa Bazar, even though Halwa is available in the city from different shops. K Mohan, Convener, INTACH Calicur Regional chapter writes about Halwa and Halwa Bazar of Kozhikode (Kerala, India).
