Pakidakali, once a popular Village Game of Kerala/India, played at Anjeri, Thrissur on Saturdays, starting from Onam day.

Time & days: 6pm on Saturdays.

Organized by the Friends Club, Anjeri, an all Kerala tournament for Pakidakali (Time: 6pm onwards) for Chulliparambil Kochunni Memmorial Trophy is held every year starting from Onam. About 50 plus teams participate in this tournament. After the inaugural game, the game of Pakidakali is then held on every Saturday (the weekend game may continue to Sunday/Monday) till the end of December.

Pakidakali is an age old game, more of a gambling which was once popular not only in Kerala but in other parts of India. This game has found mention in the epic Mahabharatha. In Kerala the game is now played in few places only.

The game is played by two teams using Pakida (dice) with a dice box which  has 97 squares. Usually, the game starts in the evening and continues for a long time- 5- 6 hours to morethan 24 hours. Astrological beliefs, superstitions and some black magic influence the players and is interesting to watch.

The venue is the temple ground at Anjeri Sree Muthappan Kshethram, Thrissur. It's about 6 km from Thrissur. Catch the bus going via Puthoor /Anjeri, get down at Thottappadi bus stop and it is walking distance to Anjeri Sree Muthappan Temple.
