Surviving Traditions of River Nila-4: There are many folk communities, traditional artists and artisans who have been living on the shores of  River Nila (Bharathapuzha) since centuries. As part of the series of articles, In this issue we are introducing Hari Govindan from Adakkaputhur (Kerala, India), who chartered a path of his own in the bronze sculpturing. Adakkaputhur a laid back village near Cherpulassery in Palakkad district is famous for its bronze tradition and he is the son of Late Balan Moosari, who invented the metal mirrors of Adakkaputhur, which was featured in Jan-Feb 2015 issue of Welcome Kerala .

Dr. Kocha Varma or Kochanujan Thampuran Rama Varma, a smart septuagenarian, who hails from the Cochin Royal Family in Tripunithura, was a certified Urologist in Chickasha Oklahoma, USA for many years. After retirement, he splits his time between Tripunithura, Thrissur and Seattle, to reconstruct the ‘History of Cochin Royal Family’ through facts and figures.

Kerala Lalithakala Akademi awards for paintings and sculptures were presented on 18 April 2015 at a function organized in Durbar Hall Art Centre, Ernakulam. Five state awards, five Honourable Mentions and five Special Mentions for art students were presented in the occasion.
