Ms.Sandy Robsun, an international Kayaker, arrived at Kannur, Kerala (India) on the  first week of February 2013. She began her voyage along the Indian coast on December 2012 from Gujarat and traversed coastal areas of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa and Karnataka.

The first week of February, Kannur has witnessed the arrival of an international Kayaker, Ms.Sandy Robsun, whose ambition is to kayak from Germany to Australia in five years.  45 year old Sandy is from Australia. She is retracing the route of the German canoeist Oskar Speck who made a historic voyage on Kayak, covering 50,000km from Germany to Australia during 1932-39. She aims to break the record of Speck by covering the same distance in five years.

Sandy started the voyage from Germany in May 2011 and sails 40km on an average in a day. She breaks the journey in different stages and during that period she works as an adventure sports trainer and travel guide to raise the fund for the trip. In the first phase of her voyage she covered Austria, Croatia, Hungary, Serbia, Greece, Turkey, Cyprus etc.

She began her voyage along the Indian coast on December 2012 from Gujarat and traversed coastal areas of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa and Karnataka. While in Kasaragod coast, she was held at Kasaragod by the coastal police for not informing the police about her journey, but she was immediately released when she produced her documents.  While in Kannur she received a grand welcome first by the Seashell Haris Beach Resort, Kannur and then a ceremonious welcome by the District Tourism Promotion Council, Kannur.

After anchoring in some more beaches in Kerala and Tamilnadu, she will continue the journey to Sri Lanka and then take a break once the monsoon season begins.
