The Department of Tourism, Govt of Kerala launched the Clint Memorial International Children's Painting Competition earlier in the year; it's an online painting competition for children between the ages of 4-15 years from all around the world. The event is on till May 31. The theme of the painting competition is 'Kerala'.

Edmund Thomas Clint (1976-1983) was the only son of M.T. Joseph and Chinnamma Joseph of Kochi, Kerala. Despite suffering from a serious kidney condition from the age of two, he painted more than 25,000 pictures in the short span of 2522 days that he lived. Clint used every medium - chalk, crayons, oil paints, and water colors to create drawings and paintings that depicted the world as he saw it. The themes of his paintings include death, solitude and love, basic human thoughts. Clint lived in an era when TV transmission had not extended to Kerala and thus for many of his ideas for art came from the stories and descriptions that he  had heard and read. Clint's father was an ardent fan of the Hollywood actor, Clint Eastwood, and so named his son Clint.

Kerala tourism has also invited volunteers for promoting this contest. Exciting prizes are offered by Kerala tourism which include a holiday trip to Kerala from any part of the world.
