Fine Arts College Thrissur Conducted National Art Students Camp

The seven day National Art students camp, EKAM 2017, organized by Government College of Fine Arts, Thrissur with the support of the Directorate of Technical Education and the Department of Higher Education, Government of Kerala has held on 16-22 Jan 2017 at their campus.

The seven day National Art students camp, EKAM 2017, organized by Government College of Fine Arts, Thrissur with the support of the Directorate of Technical Education and the Department of Higher Education, Government of Kerala has held on 16-22 Jan 2017 at their campus.

Eighty seven selected students from  twenty two fine arts colleges across India participated in the camp on a single theme with various aspects of visual art practice - painting, drawing, print making, wood carving, poster making and video art. The noted personalities Ajaykumar (Dean, World School of Design, New Delhi), Indrapramit Roy (Asst. Professor, Faculty of Fine Arts, M S University of Baroda), K S Radhakrishnan (Sculptor, New Delhi), P Radhakrishnan (Vice President, Creative & Strategy Links India, Kochi), Rajesh Ramaswami (Executive Director, Lowlindas, Bangalore), Santhiswaroopini (Sculptor, Hyderabad), Siddhartha Ghosh (Regional Secretary, Lalitha Kala Akademi, Kolkata) and Baiju Kurup (Asst. Professor, L V Prasad studio, Thiruvananthapuram) were the eight resource persons in the camp.

Prof M Lekha, Principal of the host college said “Man's exploitation of environment and humanity develops deep wounds in nature disturbing its natural sustainability. It is our responsibility to respond creatively. So we decided on the theme Sustainability of Life on Earth”. “Creativity can become the most inclusive and unifying force for our life, we believe”, Prof. Lekha told.

Apart from the academic sessions like Art talks, seminars and presentations, cultural programmes such as Thayambaka, Kathakali, Kalamezhuthum Pattum, etc. were also held during the camp.
