02-04 Sept 2022: Sopanam Vadyolsavam-2, the festival of percussions and music organized by Sopanam School of Panchavadyam/ Sopanam Cultural and Education trust. Highlights: Performances of Pandimelam, Pulluvanpattu, Kuzhalpattu, Cheenimuttu, Thimila Thayambaka, Eratta Keli, Fusion Music etc.

Venue: Mini Pamba, Banks of River Nila, Kuttippuram, Malappuram Dt, Kerala.

Sopanam Vadyolsavam-2 is the second edition of Sopanam Vadyolsavam, the festival of percussions and music organized by Sopanam Cultural and Education Trust (Sopanam School of Panchavadyam), Edappal in association with Ministry of Culture, Government of India. Performances of traditional and contemporary classical/ folk percussion orchestrations are staged on all these days, in the evening.

The Schedule:

02 Sept 2022:

04.00pm- Pandimelam, traditional Kerala percussion orchestra presented by Padmashri Mattannur Sankarankutty Marar and team. (total 51 artistes).

05.30pm- Cultural meet

06.45pm- Pulluvan pattu, songs of serpent gods with their traditional musical instruments Pulluvakudam & Veena; presented by Vasu Pulluvan, Edappal & team.

07.15pm- Kuzhalpattu, orchestration using Kurumkuzhal, short pipe used in traditional orchestrations in temples. Presented by Panamanna Manoharan, Panamanna Mahesh & others.

08.00pm- Fusion Music presented by Resonance Band of Music.

Artistes: Sreekuttan Alamkode (Violin), Shaju Kunnamkulam (Flute), Levin Marancherry (Key board) and Suresh Pattambi (Rhythm Pad).

03 Sept 2022:

04.00pm- Seminar on percussions and music, presented by Kariyannur Narayanan Nambuthiri, Irigappuram Babu and Kalamandalam Akhil Murali (in Malayalam).

05.30pm- Inaugural function

06.30pm- Edakka Vismayam, Presented by Shyam kadavallur and Sujith kottol. Contemporary orchestration using Kerala traditional instrument Edaykka.

07.30pm- Eratta thinila Thayambaka, presented by Sreevarah Sopanam and Sanjay Sopanam. Traditional orchestration ‘Thayambaka’ using the instrument ‘Thimila’.

08.30pm- Layavinyasam, Musical concert by Sajin Lal Edappal, Sreejith Vellattanjhur and pranav Alamkode.

04 Sept 2022:

04.00pm- Eratta Keli, traditional percussion orchestra using percussions Chenda and Madhalam, presented by Mattannur Sreekanth, Mattannur Sreeraj (Chenda), Kottakkal Ravi , Kallur santhosh (Madhalam) and others.

05.00pm- Cheenimuttu, traditional orchestra of Muslims of Malabar, where the main instrument is Cheenikuzhal, a shortpipe. Presented by Palakkad Muhammed Hussain Usthad & team.

05.30pm- Valedictory function

07.00pm- Mohiniyattam- Sopana Sangeetham fusion presented by Manimeghala. Sopana Sangeetham/Edaykka- Eloor Biju, Veena- Dharma Theerthan.
