The place Mottammel, near Kannapuram in Kannur district, occupies around 200 families from Kusava/ Kulala community. But only about 20 families are involved in pottery. Except for a few, most of them are using the traditional Potter’s wheel for making the pots.

Mannarasa Nagaraja temple, situated near Harippad in Alappuzha district is one of few temples where the Serpent God, Lord Nagaraja as the main deity. The three main festivities of this temple fall on Ayilyam day (star sign) in the months of Kanni, Thulam and Kumbham, according to the Malayalam Calendar.

Malabar botanical Garden, near Pokkunnu in Kozhikode is the first of its kind in North Kerala and the second in the state.  The Garden is maintained by Malabar Botanical Garden Society (MBGS), an autonomous organization under Department of Science, Technology and Environment, Govt. of Kerala. Started in 1991, MBG has now become unique institution for the nation, dedicated to the conservation and research of aquatic/wetland plants.
