Six Theyyam characters were made pictures in traditional Kerala style on the walls of Thekkumbad Vallarkulangara Bhagavathi Kottam during a ten day artists' camp held from 21 -30 Jan 2016 at Kunjhimangalam in Kannur district (Kerala).
The Karuvan community also known as Perum Kollans are the traditional blacksmiths of Kerala. They were an essential part of the society till the recent past as they were the ones who used to make agriculture and farming implements, tools, locks, knives, swords etc for the populace. But the traditional black smiths of Malappuram were the only ones who could create Kaddara (or Kaddari), a dagger renowned for its intricate designs, language and its superior quality.
Kutiyattam Kendra, Thiruvananthapuram started conducting Kutiyattam on monthly basis in two more venues- Kannur and Harippad. The Kendra has been conducting fortnightly performances since 2012 at Government Museum in Thiruvananthapuram, the regular venue.
A novel project of Kerala Lalithakala Akademi, the 'Moving Art Gallery' was launched on 20th January 2016 with an aim to popularise and foster the visual arts by reaching out to the general public.
