Month long Online Dance festival based on Ramayana

Kozhikode based Bhararathanatyam dancers N Srikanth and Aswathy organizing an online dance festival during this full month of Karkkidakom (17 July- 16 Aug 2021) focusing on the story of Ramayanam (Ramayan).

Kozhikode based dance organization Nrityalaya presenting one month long online Dance festival based on Ramayana for the month of Karkkidakom starting from 17 July 2021.  The festival titled ‘Pibare Rama Rasam’, focused on the epic Ramayan is curated by Bharathanatyam dancers N Srikanth and Aswathy.

The festival features 31 male dancers on 31 days, from across India and also from USA, Australia, Singapore, and Malaysia. Among the 31 dancers, two are Kuchipudi dancers, one Odissi and the rest all Bharatanatyam dancers.  You could watch the presentations in the festival on the You Tube channel Rasanubhava Official, 6.00pm (IST) onwards.   

Srikanth says “To every Keralite, the month of Karkidakom (also known as Aadi in other parts of South India) is devoted to reading Thunchath Ezhuthachan’s  Adyatma Ramayanam Kilippattu,  the epic story of Lord Rama. So we thought of celebrating it with dancers across the world”,  “On all these days, dancers present works of popular composers like Saint Thyagaraja, Tulasidas, Arunachala Kavi, Swati Tirunal, KND, etc; and each one present different compositions, without repetition in the series”, he added.

Artistes participating in the festival are Shankar Kandasamy (Malaysia), Praveen Kumar (Bengaluru), S K Suresh (Chennai), K P Rakesh (Chennai),  Athul Balu (Kerala), Santhosh Kumar Thamang (Hyderabad), Uttiya Barua (Kolkata), Dr. Vasudevan Sridhar (New Delhi), Krishnendu (Odisha- Odissi dance), Mohanapriyan Thavarajah (Singapore), Madhusudhanan (Chennai), Sagar Tumakuru (Tumkur), Pavithra Bhat (Mumbai), Pradeesh (Kerala), Ajith Bhaskaran Das (Malaysia), Kaleeswaran (Mumbai), Kasi Aysola (USA- Kuchipudi), Balagurunathan (Chennai), Nidheesh Kumar (Chennai), Sivakumar (Chennai), V J Chandran (Malaysia), Seshadri Iyengar (Bengaluru), Veshnu Narayanaswamy (Australia), Vaibhav Arekar (Mumbai), Dr. Vijay Madhavan,  Binesh Mahadevan (Chennai), Deepak Mazumdar (Mumbai), Adithya Anukula (Vizag- Kuchipudi), Parshwanath Upadhye (Bengaluru), and Himanshu Srivatsava (New Delhi) and Ganesh Vasudeva, USA.
