Web portal and Mobile App for Napier Museum

The Napier Museum has introduced a new mobile application and web portal to offer better service to travelers. The mobile app provides a new experience and can access information on all exhibits in the museum. 

Situated in the heart of Thiruvananthapuram, the Napier Museum also known as the Government Art Museum is one of the oldest art and natural history museums in India. Built in 1880 AD by Ayilyam Thirunal Maharaja, the ruler of the erstwhile Travancore Kingdom, this architectural masterpiece is renowned for its Indo-Saracenic style, Gothic roofs and minarets. The Museum is named after Lord Napier, the then Governor General of Madras.

The Museum has a collection of more than 550 exhibits of historical and archeological value and which include imposing bronze images, exquisite wooden sculptures, stone sculptures, ivory carvings, royal collectables etc. Apart from this, there is a huge collection of ancient coins too.  The museum also houses Japanese shadow play leather, burial urns, Kathakali models etc. 

 

Timing: 10.00-16.45hrs. Wednesday: 13.00- 16.45 hrs. 

Closed on Mondays, January 26, August 15, Thiruvonam and Mahanavami
