Pooram at Kavalappara Aryamkavu-
15 Mar- 04 Apr-Tholpavakoothu; Shadow puppetry based on the epic Ramayana (by Kambar) is performed on all these days during night (10pm- 4am). The final day performance is the Coronation of Lord Sreerama, and will start only after midnight (5am to 8.30am). Performers: Koonathara Viswanatha pulavar & team
31 Mar- Anjaam Velavaravu; On this day ritual processions with Panchavadyam/Melam/Nadaswaram etc. from five places, Kailiyad, Thrangali, Koonathara, Karakkad and Mundaya, reaches the temple by midnight.
03 Apr- Kuthirakali; Ritual processions with effigies of horses carried by men come here in the evening (5pm-9pm).
04 Apr- Pooram; On this day many folk groups from different places come to the temple in procession (2pm-9pm) carrying huge figures of Oxen, horses etc. accompanied by Poothan, Thira and traditional orchestras like Panchavadyam, Melam etc. A ritual procession with Thalappoli, Oracles etc is conducted during midnight. The festival concludes next day morning with the final performance of Kuthirakali and Tholpavakoothu.
